What is an iBux Plus MasterCard® Prepaid Card?

It’s a payment card that works like a credit/debit card, except you cannot borrow money and it is not linked to a bank account.

Do I need ID documents to purchase the iBux Plus Card?

No, you do not need any ID documents to purchase the iBux Plus £1,650 limit Card although you will need to supply ID documents if upgrading to the iBux Plus £3,000 limit Card.

How much does it cost and how do I load it?

The iBux Plus £1,650 limit Card costs £7.95 or £4.95 if upgrading. If upgrading to the iBux Plus £3,000 limit Card, the cost is £5. Once purchased, you can load your card at any PayPoint location in the UK or by bank transfer (BACS). Load at PayPoint costs £2 and to load by bank transfer costs £1. Please see our fees section for all associated fees and alternative loading methods.

How do I activate my iBux Plus Card?

You can activate your card by calling 020 7070 4902 (customer care are open 9am-6pm, 7 days a week, calls charged at local network rate) and retrieve your PIN.

How can I shop with it?

Your card is ideal for shopping in store and for use when travelling abroad. Use in over 32 million locations worldwide, including over 1.6 million ATMs, wherever you see the MasterCard Acceptance Mark.

What is the maximum limit for my card?

The maximum cumulative card limit for the iBux Plus £1,650 limit Card is £1,650. This means you can load a total of £1,650. Once you have reached ths limit you will no longer be able to use this card. The iBux Plus £3,000 limit Card has a maximum limit of £3,000. This means that this is the maximum you can have loaded on your card at any given time.

Can I reload my card?

You can reload your card multiple times until you reach your total load of £1,650 limit Card or £3,000 card limit depending on which card you have purchased. Your £3,000 limit Card allows you unlimited loads so long as the maximum limit on your card doesn’t exceed £3,000 at any given time.

How long is my card valid for?

Your card is valid for 36 months.

You can login online to see your recent transactions.

What's the minimum age for buying an iBux Plus Card?

The minimum age for this card is 18 years old.

Can the iBux Plus Card go overdrawn?

You can only spend the money you load onto your iBux Plus Card.

Can I use my card to get cashback?

No, the iBux Card can’t be used for cash-back.

Can I use my card to withdraw cash from ATMs?

Yes, you can use your card to withdraw cash from ATMs in the UK and abroad.

How much cash can I withdraw each day?

The maximum amount you may withdraw per day from ATMs is £250 (in the UK). If you’re withdrawing cash abroad, the maximum withdrawal amount is subject to the country’s limits.

How do I move funds from my iBux Card once I have upgraded?

In order to move the remaining balance from your iBux Card to your iBux Plus £1,650 limit Card, simply log-in online and select the “move funds” functionality (20p charge). Alternatively, you can contact Customer Care (£1 charge) who can also perform this function.

How do I upgrade from the iBux Plus £1,650 limit Card?

In order to upgrade you will need to either:

1.Confirm that you’re personally registered at your address with at least two of the following:

  • Home Landline Telephone Number
  • That you’re registered on the Electoral Roll


2. Send us a copy of photo ID in your name and a proof of address. We accept the following documents: Photo ID – a photocopied or scanned copy from the list below:

  • The photo page of your passport
  • Your EEA Identity Card
  • Your UK photocard driving licence

Proof of address – an original document dated within the last 3 months from the list below:

  • Mortgage/bank/credit card statement
  • Evidence of entitlement to a state or local authority-funded benefit
  • Utility bill
  • Valid Vehicle Registration Certificate (copy acceptable)
  • Council tax demand (dated within the last 12 months)

Once your documents have been received and checked, a new card will be sent to you with a £3,000 limit. You can also change your tariff to a Pay Monthly tariff. See Buy/Upgrade page for more details.

Can I upgrade if I don’t have an iBux Card or an iBux Plus £1,650 limit Card?

You must purchase a iBux Plus £1,650 limit Card in order to upgrade to an iBux Plus £3,000 limit Card.
